Welcome to Friday!
May the start of this new day be filled with joy,
overflowing with hope, and blessed with the presence
and peace of the everlasting and almighty God!
Good morning and welcome to Friday! Today is probably the earliest, or latest I have been up in quite sometime. Actually, I fell asleep working on something around 10:45 pm on Thursday and woke up around 11:30 pm. That power nap has kept me up ever since. Since I was up and couldn't get back to sleep I went ahead and finished up the first draft of a writing project, tied up a few lose ends, washed a few loads of clothes, and got a jump start on Friday!
Hopefully, you weren't up all night as well. So, how are you doing? How has your week gone? What has been the highlight of your week? Have you been able to accomplish your goals for the week? Have you spent time with those you loved and enjoyed the presence, warmth, and joy of family and friends? I hope and pray that you are doing well and that you have had an amazing week.
I have had a very good week. I took the first day of the week off and enjoyed the blessing of having time at home and away from the office. It is always so nice to have a short work week. I enjoyed my day off by spending time with Trish, Ava and Emma. We hung out around the house, went on a few errands, took a get coffee and used as much of our free moments to talk and chat. I also took the opportunity to go to lunch with Sydney and Paige at school. It was grandparents day, but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. The only downside of visiting on grandparents day was one of Paige's classmates asking if I was her grandfather. Wow! I guess I need to shave and clean up a bit. It was fun to sit with both of the girls during their lunch breaks. Paige talked about using the computer, and studying their classroom pets. Sydney shared a full break down of her day and it was very enjoyable to hear her excitement.
School is in full gear for all the girls. Gabbi, Cassarra, Sydney and Paige have all had a round or two of quizzes and tests. Paige had her first math quiz on Thursday. Gabbi had a test on Monday and I'm sure she did well. All the girls are quite capable, and only occasionally do they need some "extra" motivation. I'm praying that they will all keep putting forth their best effort.
Trish is doing well. Emma, Ava and the crew keep her pretty busy. I'm amazed by how much she gets done in a day, especially with the number of times Ava and Emma can create episodes that require attention and "Clean up on aisle three." Ava and Emma have learned some really interesting techniques for distracting and occupying attention. Earlier this week it seemed that Ava was the distraction while Emma opened the cabinets and raided snack boxes. The same holds for Emma who provided the distraction so that Ava could get yougurt out of the fridge. So far, neither of these two can navigate opening their un-opened surprises.
Well, most of the week has been very productive and a blur. I have enjoyed a lot this week:
- Trish signing Sydney up for "Girls on the Run"
- Cassarra and Sydney going running
- Ava, Emma and I went walking together through the neighborhood
- I made my first batch of bread pudding. Ava calls it bread pie
- Pizza night with the girls sharing details of spirit week
- Free coaching tips for work on practices and principles
- Free lunch on Wednesday as a part of a offsite working lunch.
- Two hours of brainstorming, analogies, sports metaphors, and steak fries
- Learning about all the ins and outs of spirit week and especially "America Day"
- Celebrating at Hi-Wire with Cassarra and her friends on Saturday
- Volunteering
- Hearing Ava and Emma laugh and enjoy each other
Welcome to Friday!
LORD of Hosts, God of Israel, who is enthroned above the cherubim,
You are God - You alone. You are God of all the kingdoms of the earth.
You made the heavens and the earth. LORD God, save us.
Save us from the hands of the enemy so that all the kingdoms of the earth
may know that You are the LORD - You alone. (Isaiah 37:16,20)
Bless us for the journey and in your everlasting arms satisfy us. Amen.
With love (& in triumph),
Cassius
