Ditto - go ahead and dial

Trish sent me this poem.  It is beautiful and an awesome reminder of who we are, community, and what we are called to do, stand in the gap for each other.

All I can say after reading this poem is ditto.  I am here for you.  I am here to make you laugh, or let you cry.  I am here run with you or simply sit and listen to you talk.  I am here for you, as your brother in Christ.

And if you call or look for me, and you don't get a smile, a cheerful voice, or an answer - come quickly - I need you!

Romans 12:9a, 15 - 16: Let love be genuine. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.  Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
John 15:17: These things I command you, that you love one another.

Lord God, merciful and true, help us as brothers and sisters to stop pretending that we can do this alone.  Help us to stand in the gap for one another, living, serving, and caring for each other.  Let the greatest of us be in prayer for the least, and the least of us give our life in service to all others.  Glorious and True, we seek your goodness to keep us in the midst of the storm - in my time of need send your holy angel to my rescue - even one clothed in flesh and blood, tattered sneakers, and plain clothes.  Come to our rescue always.  Amen.
