Welcome to Friday 8.28.15

Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.  Psalm 54:4

Welcome to Friday

My morning is off to a quick start and I am excited for all the joy, gladness, grace, and peace that are headed my way today.  I hope that you are getting off to a really quick, exciting, and fantastic start to your Friday!  Welcome to Friday!  I believe that today is going to be filled with goodness, blessed by the Glorious One, and gift wrapped with an abundance of joy, success, victory, favor and fellowship.  I have this "happy anticipation" that our Father in heaven is about to do some great things on behalf of his children, including you and me.

How are you doing?  How are things going for you and going in your week?  Did you get off to a good start with things on Monday.  Were you able to make it through your week with success and a sense of good accomplishment?  What was the highlight of your week, and what kind of things have made your heart glad and filled with gratitude.

We have had a really good week.  Trish and I managed to have our date night over the weekend.  We grabbed a quick bite to eat at Smashburger and enjoyed conversation and laughs.  I really enjoyed the food too, but the conversation and company far exceeding anything the store had on the menu.  We even managed to get time to enjoy a free cup of coffee over the weekend too.

We had a jam packed Saturday.  We had choir practice with the girls and then made a quick swing down to Georgetown.  We spent most of the afternoon with my sister-in-law, mother-in-law and nephews.  It was a lot of fun to catch up, relax, and throw down on some of my mother-in-law's spaghetti.  It was so good that I think we all had seconds.  Maybe not Trish, but the rest of us sure took it out.  While there I didn't get to check in on momma, but I did catch up briefly with daddy.  While driving down the road I saw him on the tractor bailing hay.  The kids didn't recognize him at first because he was pulling something out of the hay baler, and had a hat cover part of his face.   On the way back, Cassarra drove and did a really good job.  It was good experience for her, and gave me a chance to sit int he backseat and rest up.

Sunday was a blast.  The girls sang with the youth choir and they really knocked it out the park.  Sydney and Gabbi were able to lead parts of the worship songs and they did extremely well.  Afterwards Sydney and Paige joined me on a trip to Rock Hill for a Homecoming/Anniversary celebration.  I gave the devotional and enjoyed a lot of old school hymns and musical songs.  At least four or five different groups sang hymns of praise and worship with no accompaniment.  It reminded me, in a good way, of the trips to Alabama during the summer and all those revivals we went to.

The rest of the week was a great blast as well.  We had Ava go to school for the first time and she seemed so excited.  She was anxious to go, so much so that she barely slept the night before.  She kept getting out of the bed, until finally she fell asleep in our room.  Thursday morning she was bright-eyed and ready for the day.  I, on the other hand, was not really ready to drop her off.  It was hard to do it, and even when Ava told me to leave her I was still apprehensive.  After we got the brief first day update, I took the big girls out to prepare for the first football game of the season.  I caught two beautiful and captivating images of the moon and the night clouds.  What a creative and amazing God!

Well, I could go on and on, but I want to let you go and enjoy the beautiful day, magical moments, and many blessings God has planned for you today.  Join me in praying for the best and expecting God to do "exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think (Eph 3:20)."   May the Glorious One fill you with grace and mercy, making your life "naturally reflect the transforming love and power of Christ."   May you experience joy and peace, and may "others notice your joy and peace and want to understand."  Have a great day!  As always,

Welcome to Friday!

Run on... the race ends in glory!

Hebrews 12:1b-3

12:1b run with perseverance the race that is set before us,
12:2 looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
12:3 Consider him who endured such hostility against himself from sinners, so that you may not grow weary or lose heart.

Do not grow weary or lose heart. Look to Jesus, our joy and hope, the pioneer and perfector of our faith. Run on, run with endurance the race that ends at heaven's shores.

Welcome to Friday 8.21.15

Welcome to Friday!
"Fear not, little  flock, for  it is your Father's good pleasure to give you  the kingdom.  Luke 12:32 ESV

Welcome to Friday!  I hope that you are having an excellent day and that you have had a radiant, beautiful, and prosperous week.  How are you doing?  How are things going for you in your neck of the woods?  What were you up to this week, and what kind of new and exciting things held your attention?  Did you accomplish everything you set out to do, the fun stuff, or only the "must have" items?  I hope that you were able to get what you needed done.  I pray that you have a good sense of accomplishment for the week, and are able to be at peace with what did not get completed (if anything) this week.  Most of all, I pray that in the highs and lows, moment by moment, you were able to feel the presence, power and love of God with you.

We had a great week!  I know that we spent a lot of time making sure the girls were ready for back to school.  Paige and I had are last morning workout with post workout Chick-Fil-A breakfast.  We made one last dessert run, and finished up a few back to school shopping items.  We all had a last night of staying up late, and sleeping in this week.  School officially started back for the oldest four on Wednesday.  Ava will go to pre-K next week and I'm sure she will enjoy it.

Other than getting ready for the back to school blitz, the week has been a bit hazy and fuzzy.  It was probably fuzzy for me because mostly battled with my laptop.  I updated the OS software (Microsoft), and then it was all downhill.  Every few minutes the screen would flicker, repaint, and Explorer would crash.  It is so frustrating when you are so used to turning on technology without an issue, and then suddenly you can't.  It is even more frustrating when you work in computer software, and think to yourself that "you of all people" should be able to fix this.  Finally, today at 4:48 I think I have my laptop stable again.  It hasn't crashed in 50 minutes.  I have to be sure to number this laptop fix in my blessings for the week.

The girls are all doing well.  They got off to school well on the first day.  Gabbi was the only one with a teacher conflict.  Paige and Sydney seem to be adjusting to their new roles well.  Sydney is at a new school, Irmo Middle.  Paige is now the only Rhue at Dutch Fork Elementary (at least till next week), and she is riding the bus solo.  Sydney warned her to make sure she stayed awake on the bus ride home b/c she wouldn't be able to tell her to get up at their stop.  Cassarra, our senior (tears, tears) is super excited about being a senior, her classes and classmates, and the potential for an amazing year.  Ava is waking up everyday wondering when she will get to go, and Emma just gets up and seems happy to see them go.  I guess Emma feels like with them gone there is less competition for iPods, iPads, TV, and most of all her mom's attention.

Trish is doing well.  She has the girls organized, prayed up, and ready.  She clearly set her expectations for this year, and began naming, praying, and proclaiming truth over them.  Again, don't know where the cape is, but I apparently married "Superwoman!"  She is great.  Hopefully this weekend we can go and enjoy the free coffee reward I have, and a little conversation time after the back to school blitz ends.

Well, I hope you had a great day and an awesome week.  I'm so thankful for you and for all of your love and kindness.  May God provide you with peace and renewal over the weekend.  May his love, and the love of those closest to you bring you an unshakable joy and an unmistakable peace.  As always...

Welcome to Friday!

Welcome to Friday 8.7.15

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path - Psalm 119:105

 Welcome to Friday!

I just wanted to check in again to say Welcome to another Friday, and another weekend.  I hope that you have had blessed and productive week.  How are you doing?  How did it go for you this week?  Did you manage to set and accomplish all of your goals, most of your goals, or at least a few of your goals?  If not, well, we will get it next week.  What was the best part of your week?

We are all doing well.  This week seemed to fly by and I can barely believe that today is Friday.  Having the week fly by so quickly has been a mixed bag.  As the weeks continue to fly by, I keep coming closer to the reality that our summer is ending.  And, all the back to school signs aren't doing me any favors.  In fact, all of the signs, store displays, and circulars are making it more apparent.  I am really not ready!  Summer was too short!

Well, this week, we have had to face the facts and start getting ready for school.  While getting ready for back to school, we have been trying to jam as much of summer in this week as possible.  Really!  We've tried to have fun, spend time together, stay up late, and sleep in as much as possible.  Gabbi and Cassarra are definitely beating me in the stay up late and sleep in department.  They went to bed shy of 1:00am and got up just shy of 11:00 am.  Nice job!  Me, on the other hand, I stayed up until just shy of midnight, slept in till 6, and needed nearly three cups of coffee to make it through the day.

In addition to the late nights, we've also done a few ice cream runs.  Okay, I did an extra ice cream run, and a couple of candy runs too.  But, I did mix it all in with the back to school clothes shopping.  By the way, watching the kids pick out fashions is funny, and insightful.  They really have their own styles and interests, especially Paige.  Paige has expensive taste, but also a good idea for fashion.

I am so thankful that the weekend is here.  Work has been busy and I am looking forward to a bit of down time, a great date night with Trish, some fun with the family, working in the yard, and breakfast with the girls.  I hope you are doing well today.  I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy yourself.  Be sure to have fun, get some rest and be renewed.
