But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.
Only in God and His steadfast love can we flourish, thrive and have a fruitful life.
The green olive tree reminds me that with God we are lively, blooming, cared for and fruitful. Our lives are not dead, but covered with the leaves that display who we are - in Christ, and the green shows that we are bearing and capable of bearing fruit.
But, also the green should indicate that we are not yet fully ripened. A green olive may be harvested for some oils and for some purposes. It can also be left to continue to grow and mature.
Likewise, we are not yet completed. We are being sanctified and made more like Chriat. Some of our gifts, fruit and changes in Christ can be used now as a testimony to God, healing or encouragement to others, and even as a fragrance of praise.
Ultimately, we shall be a fully ripened harvest and the oil of joy, hope, praise, and glory to God will stream from our fully sanctified and redeemed bodies.
Holy God may I dwell with you and you in me. My Father I seek your love and Holy Spirit. Transform me and my heart, so that I will be a fruitful and thriving part of your kingdom. Amen.
